Acidic Phosphating Product to Generate Zinc

Calcium Phosphate Layers in Immersion Application

Properties and

Application Fields: Granodine 20 is a nitrate, nitrite accelerated phosphating process,

which produces microcrystalline zinc calcium phosphate layers on

steel and iron surfaces.

 The conversion layers provide very good corrosion protection and

excellent adhesion for follow up painting or coating.

 Granodine 20 is low in sludge and an exceptionally easy-care, one

component process.

 The coating weight varies between e.g. 3 - 6 g / m² (depending on

processconditions and / or substrate the value can deviate).

Process Components: Granodine 20

 Grano Starter 65 or Neutralizer 565

 Grano Toner 130 or Toner 130

Application: Make-up for 1.000 litres of bath solution:

 Three quarters of the bath tank is filled with water, then add while

agitating:

 Granodine 20 51 kg = 35 l

 Grano Starter 65 or

 Neutralizer 565 max. 8.8 kg = 8 l

 Grano Toner 130-solution (20%) or

 Toner 130-solution (20%) 0.3 l

 Then supplement with water to 1,000 litre bath volume.

 Note:

Grano Toner 130 solution is produced by dissolving Granodine 20

 25 kg in 100 l water. Grano Toner 130 solution should be added

only shortly before start of production.

Summary of process data: Plant-dependent modifications of the following data may be

necessary.

Technical Data: "Total Acid" points 20 - 30

 "Free Acid" points 3.0 - 4.5

 "Toner" points 0.8 - 1.5

 Temperature 70 - 80 °C

 Treatment time 2 - 5 min

 Note:

 In Special cases it is possible to employ the process at a

temperature range of 85 - 90 °C on the "iron side".

Sequence of Normal

 5. Post Rinse

 6. Rinsing with deionised water

 Drying

1. Cleaning: We recommend the use of suitable products from our Ridoline

range. For heavy grease an addition of a Ridosol degreasing agent

might be necessary. For application details see the respective

Technical Product Bulletins.

2. Rinsing: Following the cleaning stage the parts are rinsed with water. To

avoid contaminations the rinsing bath must be continuously fed with

fresh water and therefore be equipped with an overflow device.

3. Phosphating: Please observe the specified technical data. A regular dosage of

Granodine 20 and Grano Toner 130 solution is necessary to keep

the pointages constant. Too high bath temperatures will cause

more sludge and stronger encrustation. Too low bath temperatures

or not enough replenishing with Granodine 20 and Grano Toner

130 may cause non-compact (permeable) coatings and film rust.

4. Rinsing: After phosphating the parts are rinsed. The rinsing bath must be

continuously fed with fresh water and be equipped with an

overflow device.
