    磁铁矿滤料采用含铁量40-52的磁铁矿石精选加工而成。其主要含铁矿物为磁铁矿，其化学式为Fe3O4，其中FeO：31，Fe2O3:69，理论含铁量为72.4。这种矿石有时含有TiO2及V2O5组合复合矿石，分别称为钛磁铁矿或矾钛磁铁矿。在三层滤料中通常与无烟煤、石英砂滤料配合，是我国目前较好的配料程序。它属重质滤料，反冲洗时不易混层、对改进承托层和配水系统有着良好的适应能力。它滤速可达30-40米／时，是多层滤池中不可少的滤料，此外，它的除铁、除锰、除氧效果也很明显。
